Are you worried about how you will pay your Realtor® when you buy your home? It’s a common question that our team is asked by first time home-buyers. According to the National Association of Realtors® 88% of buyers used a Realtor® to help them buy their home.
There are a number of reasons to have your representation. The most important one is to have someone who is working for you and will be looking to protect your interests.
As part of the process of working with a local Realtor® you will sign a buyer brokerage agreement. Part of the agreement will include a line regarding the commission your agent will be paid. However don’t panic. The fees associated with buying a home are paid by the seller. When their home was listed in the Northern Virginia Multiple Listing Service (MLS) they agreed to pay a cooperating buyer agent fee.
The other thing you need to know is that your agent will not be paid until you settle on your new home. A good buyer’s agent is invested in making sure your home purchase goes smoothly and sticking with you through the entire process.
