Northern Virginia offers buyers a lot of choices when it comes to buying a home. However where in Northern Virginia you decide you would like to live makes a big different in what you will get for your money.
The closer you are to DC or whether you decide to live “inside or outside” the beltway can change your buying dollar significantly. To give you an idea we scoured the MLS for listings in Arlington VA, Alexandria City, Fairfax County and Prince William County to give you an idea of what you can buy between $500,000 to $600,000.
In Arlington you can nab a 2BR/2BA condo located in the Eclipse minutes from National Airport, Crystal City and shopping. for $549,900 The condo offers 1242SF (est) and has 2 garage parking spaces and storage.
Head a little east to Old Town Alexandria and pick up a 3BR/1.5 BA townhouse built in the early 1900’s for $549,000. You can walk to all of the shops and resturants in Old Town and grab a Dash bus to the metro nearby.
If you are ready to spread out a bit more then you can move outside the beltway to Fairfax County. In Springfield VA you can buy a 4B/2.5BA detached home with 2500SF (est) for $550,000. The home has 3 finished levels and a nice size yard. The home is located close to the Fairfax County Parkway for access to the Franconia-Springfield Metro and multiple commuter lots.
For buyers who are willing to commute a little further your budget will buy you the most house for the money in Prince William County. You can buy a new home in Woodbridge in Ewills Mill Estates with 5000SF (est) for $588,000. The home features all the bells and whistles including a chef’s kitchen, hardwood floors and a 1/3 acre lot. Commuting will take a bit longer but buyers will still have access to multiple commuter lots within 5 miles for bus service directly to DC.
