This Month's Most Expensive Sales

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog called What’s behind the gates in Northern Virginia? recounting my adventures in looking at the most expensive homes for sale in the area. As a follow-up I wanted to see how the market was treating the upper level priced homes in the area. None of the homes that I visited on my rounds has made it into the SOLD column yet but the following are the TOP TEN PRICED sales for Northern Virginia which includes Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties.

What do you get for your money in this price range in our area?
In the case of the home on the homes in Purcellville you are going to find rolling green acreage for horses or cattle. I’ll hold my breath and wait to see whether housing developments will be springing up on these two large plots of land in the next few years. If you like to clean bathrooms, so at this price point I doubt you are cleaning your own bathrooms, 6 or 7 seem to be the most popular number. Four of the homes were new construction and of course the homes that are in McLean and Oakton are very close to DC making them a great choice for anyone working in town.
I had to chuckle when I saw this little description for a new listing in the 5M plus range “Over 15,000 sq. ft. practical elegance”, now I don’t know about you but I don’t honestly know how 15,000 square feet is practical anything! Stay tuned I’m on the hunt for more homes of the Rich and Famous in our area.
